I'm not worried about mounting those tweeters as I have the tools to do it. If I went with the Infinity Kappas or Reference speakers could I add the KICKER 11HS8 Subwoofer to one of these sets Infinity speakers later? Do the kicker 6x9's you have tweeters or are they component? If they have tweeters in the speaker and you haven't disconnected the factory tweeters in the pillar doestn't that limit the sound quality you get? Is the sound that much better or do you have another reason? I'm not trying to be difficult I'm just trying to get as much information as I can. Why would you reccomend the Infinity Kappas over the Infinity Reference speakers? I know their more expensive. Please excuse me if some of the questions I'm asking seem dumb but I'm trying hard to make sense of all this audio stuff! All I'm really sure of at this point is I really don't like what ford put in my truck. And I think those Reference speakers would work great for you. But it still sounds amazing over the factory and I get many compliments on it. I'm certainly not saying my truck will compete with a majority who go aftermarket and post on here. Also, I did not disconnect the factory tweeters.Īll goes to say, if you want a simple, budget friendly upgrade and don't care about audiophile, competition level upgrades that you can mostly do yourself, then this route might help you. But I think you could skip that and might not notice the issue I did. The new 3.5 definitely made my sound fuller and blended better with the rest of the truck. I always thought some highs getting piped through the center channel sounded weird. The last thing I did (mainly because I got bored this past summer) was install a Kicker 3.5 speaker in the center channel. It's the only thing I didn't install myself. They are far and away better than stock! But, I think my most important addition here was this: Both sets of speakers have been awesome and are not powered by an amp. I had a set of Polk DB651s sitting around collecting dust that I installed in the rear doors. Crutchfield suggested Kicker 6x9s for the front doors. I, like you, did not want to get fancy and spend thousands of dollars (as I have in the past). I bought it in May of 2016 and pretty much immediately changed out the speakers. I think I can help! I have almost the exact same setup as you but mine is a 2016. If you know of a link to someone with a 2017 XLT with my exact system that just replaced speakers that would be helpful also. If you can give me some help with the install of the above speakers or have a different brand speaker and configuration that you feel would have a better result than the Infinitys I would appreciate your help. I realize that just replacing the speakers isn’t going to win me trophies in any sound competitions but I’m hoping for it to sound a lot better than it does now! If I can run the factory tweeters with the others would it help to replace the factory tweeters also? If yes with what? It doesn't sound like I get much out of the factory ones I have now. If I install these 5 speakers do I need to unhook the factory tweeters? Will the new Infinity Reference REF-3022cfx 3-1/2" 2-way Speaker make the center channel stand out more or am I better off leaving the stock speaker in that position? I can hardly hear my center channel speaker now unless I shove my head as close to it as I can. I have called Crutchfield and they recommended the following speakers:ġ08R3022CX Infinity Reference REF-3022cfx 3-1/2" 2-way Speakers 1 needed FRONT CENTERġ08R6522EX Infinity Reference REF-6522ex 6-1/2" 2-way Speakers 2 needed REAR DOORSġ08R9622IX Infinity Reference REF-9622ix 6" x 9" 2-way Speakers 2 needed FRONT DOORSĬan these just be installed in the factory positions with no other changes? I would like to upgrade just the speakers in the sound system to hopefully get this inadequate factory system to sound better. easily enough but the rest of things such as choosing the speakers, how they will need to be configured and wired, and actually which speakers to replace to end up with an improved system that I actually like listening to is where I'm needing the help. So I'm sure I can handle the installation wiring, soldering, ect. I am a retired mechanic (first career) and a retired network administrator (second career). I have never messed with subs, amps and the like. First things first, I am not a stereo system builder. I have a 2017 F-150 XLT 302.A Sport package with a 7 speaker non Sony 8 inch screen with nav and VSS.
